Kid cuteness, August 10, 2015
Zo on the couch under blankets with her Daddy and Newton, on a weekend morning.
Daddy: "We're in Snuggletown, population: 3. You know that snuggle town has the tickle police, right?" (Followed by tickling and much laughter.)
Daddy to Luke, who was up VERY late Saturday night, and was sitting with us on the porch: "You're up so late little buddy. Mer." (Mer is the word we use with each other to express disappointment.)
Luke: "Daddy, you have to talk like a grownup!"
Luke to Daddy, pointing out some tools left out on the bedroom floor: "Daddy. You need to pick up those tools. Otherwise a kid could get a hold of them."
Luke when we give him food he doesn't like: "That's not my favorite."
There is a lot of recreation of "Frozen" lately. Kids are playing more independently in general, which is huge for Mommy.
Luke has a pair of shorts that are too big for him and, running down the sidewalk one day, they fell down. Zo ran after him and pulled her shorts down as well in a show of solidarity. Kids were laughing the whole time.
Me: "You guys can play on your own but don't be naughty."
Zo: "Is it OK if we are pretend naughty?"
Luke: "My skin is like clothes for my blood."
Luke: "Why don't humpback whales use diving boards?"
Zo: "Those roses smell like jelly beans!"
Zo: "Let go to me!" (Both kids use "to" instead of "of.")
Zo: "Can we stay in our new house for a long time? I'm going to lock the door so we can't leave."
Zo to me, snuggled up reading in the morning: "It's so great that you love us, Mommy."
Luke, after I had explained that bacteria are little animals that can make people sick, and after he threw up one morning: "I think I have a little animal in my tummy. Maybe it's bacteria. Or maybe it's a baby praying mantis!"
Luke, out of the blue: "Mommy, are the babies you lost still babies? What do they eat in Heaven? Why are me and Zo the babies that get to be with you and the other babies don't?" (Luke talks about our lost babies frequently. Zo never talks about it but if I'm sad about it she knows and there are lots of hugs and kisses from her."
Luke to me: "I need you to mind when I tell you something!"
Luke: "Let's go to the botanic gardens and put our bikes in the biker parkers!" (Bike racks.)
Daddy sent Luke to his room from the dinner table for being naughty...and Luke went upstairs and slammed the door. Awww...our first door slam...
Luke at nap: "I want my Zoey." (Luke is having a harder time with them having separate rooms. Zo seems perfectly happy with the new arrangement.)
Luke and Zo ask each other each morning, "Are you happy or sad?" Happy means they sit together at breakfast. Sad means they give each other some space.
Luke, late one night when I was trying to get him down to sleep: "I'm not going to die, OK Mommy? I'm going to be right here for you."
Zo: "Mommy, I love you so,"
