Sissy's drawings are starting to look like actual objects. First there were the birthday potatoes, then a stick figure family, now a cow. It's an amazing thing to witness...

Luke Watching for the Easter Bunny's Helicopter

We went to visit Daddy up in Steamboat this weekend, and there was this AMAZING Easter egg hunt we took the kids to Saturday morning, a warm day and the egg hunt was at the middle school which is surrounded by million dollar mountain views every direction you look, everything was free, so nicely done and Luke won a bike, he was so excited. We left the field before the grand finale--the helicopter that came and dropped thousands of eggs--but watched it from up on the hill above and it was so cool.

After, we went back to the hotel and there was a great funk band and we sat on the deck and Jeff and I each had a beer, the kids hot chocolates and we just shook our heads at each other, knowing this is our life now...we feel so incredibly lucky...

Luke and Zo Share a Sleeper Sofa

Zo, upon hearing she and Luke would be sharing the sleeper sofa in Daddy's hotel room in Steamboat: "So we get to sleep together? Like when we were babies?"

And then an hour later I found them like this:

Color Theory

Not only did we have a great time dying eggs with Grammy the other day, but it also turned into a great lesson in color theory. What happens when you mix blue and yellow? (The green tablet wasn't dying the eggs a very dark green, but our mixture did a great job.) How about adding extra blue to the green? Blue and red? I tried to talk the kids out of mixing orange and green, but they insisted. Such fun...

Business Trip

In the middle of a string of massive work projects + getting the house ready to sell + getting myself to Colorado, I had a business trip to San Diego last week. Just generally exhausted but especially after a late client dinner. Lovely to see all the people I saw, though, especially Lynn who has been a great mentor to me in business and is also someone I consider a dear friend. We were able to have lunch just the two of us at a place bordering on a lovely Japanese garden. And I took a bunch of pictures for the kids, on of which was Salt Lake out the window of the plane.

How did I use to travel 200 days a year? My life is so different now...

Baby Cow

My dad has friends who are bottle feeding a baby calf, and last weekend they so generously let us come over. What a thrill it was to get to feed the baby (if a little scary). Cool things happen in Colorado...

Kid Cuteness, March 25, 2015

Overheard, Luke talking to Sis: "You're the best Zoey in the whole wide world. You're my best friend."

One of Zo's favorite phrases at the moment is, "Sure." Like we'll ask, "Would you like a sandwich for lunch?" and she'll say, "Sure."  "Would you like to bring a stuffie in the car?" "Sure." Would you like bubbles in your bath?" "Sure." Etc. It's pretty cute.

Zo at Buca di Beppo, looking a replica of the Statue of David: "That's a statue of a penis!"

Grammy drew Zo a picture of her family, and she said, "Oh, my family! I love my family!" She's been sleeping with the picture, too.

Kids and I have been playing "Crusher," which is a game my Dad played with us where you tackle the person and pin them to the ground. They laugh like crazy...love getting those laughs

Zo, after the wetness of her bedtime kisses went away: "My kisses went away! I need some more!." And, putting her hand to her cheek after I kiss her: "I hold onto your kisses."

Zo having a tantrum before bath: "I want princess bubbles and my Daddy!!!!"

Luke: "I will be so happy to see my Daddy!"

Luke: "I wish we could put our house on wheels and take it with us, but it is stuck to the ground really hard."

Me: "It's a full moon tonight."

Luke: "What's it full of?"

Zo: "I want a cupcake with a cookie on it for my birthday."

Dad: "You want a cupcake with a cookie on it for your birthday?"

Zo: "Yes, Dad, that's a plan!!!"

Luke to me, exasperated: "How many times to I have to tell you not to tell me to do stuff!"

Kids, bouncing on Zo's bed: "Happy not your birthday to you Luke!" "Happy not your birthday to you, Zoey!"

Me, talking to Zoey about her being sad about selling the house: "Our world is really upside-down, isn't it?"

Zo: "Yes. I want to walk on the ceiling."

Me: "Awww...because then your world would be right-side-up?"

Zo: "Yes."

Luke, knocking on my office door: "Mommy! Grandma wants to know if you want salad for dinner?"

Me: "Yes, please. Will you come get me when dinner is ready?"

Luke: "OK, I will come get you and tell you to go to the kitchen. But you'd better listen...if you don't listen, there will be no treat!"

Zo, a few days after I had taught the kids about flipping a coin, looking at a nickel: "If it's heads, we do what I want. If it's ladders, it's what Bubs wants."
