Election week 2020

Monday: Beachside lunch at Mala with my friend Vanessa (and after we went to drop off her ballot); Luke and Zo giving me stuffies to make me feel better when I was sad about my brother; Ben calling to say he and Jaimie are coming for X-mas.

Tuesday: Hot coffee first thing; awesome small surf at Breakwall; friends coming over for election results; smell of roasted chilis; made-from-scratch Mexican soup and beignets.

Wednesday: Watching Luke catch some waves (and surfing again myself); kids laughing hysterically when I kissed the bottoms of their feet and their stuffed animals on the lips; snuggling up on the couch and watching Hocus Pocus (which I clearly meant to do as a lead-up to Halloween, but better late than never).

Thursday: Lots of work, grateful for that; finishing our book “Wild Rescuers: Guardians of the Taiga” (which has been so fun).

Friday: Zoey telling me about her day (she dropped her lunch on the ground and then couldn’t get another, and then after school when her daddy took her to Safeway to get a snack discovered he didn’t have his wallet): “The universe is conspiring against my stomach!!”

Saturday: Lovely, lazy day at John and Jo’s, food, family, dominoes, etc. I cried at the end of Joe Biden’s victory speech. I didn’t realize ‘til then how much I didn’t want Trump to be president again.

Sunday: Duck pond! We haven’t been in a long time because we’ve been exploring other places. Good to see Ducky McDuckerson again. Also brunch at home together. And I’m about to surf. And Jeff and I have plans for a happy hour date night while the kids play with a friend for a couple hours.

XO
