The O in ALOHA, spider webs + popsicles and bunnies
Zo in the middle of the ALOHA sign, visiting Daddy at work when he had to work late the other night…
Zo to me: “I want my unicorn to sleep with you, so he can watch over you all night.”
Kids have taken a skein of yarn and made a spider web upstairs encompassing both of their rooms, with lego bugs caught throughout and a nursery section for spider eggs. Over fall break I’ve suspended the rules of keeping the upstairs picked up at the end of each day…it’s a disaster up there but the kids sure have had fun with yarn and legos and MagnaTiles and train setups and My Little Ponies and stuffies…
Zo, after I flopped on the couch, groaning in frustration at having to ask the kids to brush their teeth 10 times before it happened: “Mommy you could eat a popsicle. Popsicles always make me feel better. Or holding a bunny.”
Luke putting on a play for me with sets and props, (he’s also putting together a new “Anniversary Play” as I type this), and also playing “Battle Bots” with me on the bed yesterday…people say TV kills children’s imagination, but I find the opposite is true as the kids tend to do very elaborate versions of the shows they’ve seen, acting out all the parts, coming up with the components in very unique ways, eg bed pillows stand in for robots when playing Battle Bots. Fun to watch their minds at work…
I couldn’t sleep last night and so Jeff and I sat on the back porch, talking about our anniversary (which is today), the good and bad of the past 10 years and how happy we are that we are together…
Happy Friday!!
