  1. Been taking a half hour for myself when I first wake up even though I have sooooo much to do. It's wonderful. I drink coffee and watch the sky get light and wonder what the planet is I'm seeing early morning in the southwestern sky and work on something fun vs work...what a luxury that half hour is...
  2. Breakfast with the kids with letter flashcards...working on letter sounds...
  3. Zo can totally pump her legs to swing herself on the swing...what a big girl...
  4. "Pictures + Stories" workshop at the library this afternoon...was fun to see the kids in a classroom-like setting. Luke held up his hand for a good 10 minutes straight until he was called on. Love that he waited his turn and that he was so persistent. And Zo, she drew such a cute little scene with a chicken and a fox...and she's all of a sudden drawing rainbow polka dots on everything, so cute, I'm loving it...
  5. We have a housecleaner helping us again after 2 years of doing it ourselves. So grateful. And the house is so clean... :)

XOXO

A couple quick bedtime stories

Luke, at the start of tuck-in:

"Goosey Goosey Gander, wither shall I wander

Upstairs and downstairs and in my lady's chamber

There I met an old man who would not say his prayers

I took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs."

Me: "Good job with the nursery rhyme, Bubs."

Luke: "I'm saying it because there is a message."

Me: "What's the message?"

Luke: "We need to say our prayers!"

And...we have a book, Emily Brown, which I love. It's about a girl's love for her stuffed rabbit and how the value in the rabbit is that it's been loved so much it's all flippy-floppy and worn and a funny color, etc.

Zo, at tuck-in last night: "Mama, I'm all flippy-floppy, because I've been loved so much."

  1. Taking the kids to the park for 15 minutes after preschool even though I had work to do...the tree climbing that's going on! I used to love climbing trees too. And Sis is learning to pump her legs to make herself swing...
  2. Luke and Sis working together to figure out what to do with a boy at preschool that can be a little overbearing with Luke. Luke talked about walking away, getting a teacher to help, etc. and they eventually decided that if the boy was giving Luke trouble Sis would distract him so he would play with her and not bother Luke. Love their very good reasoning and also how much my kids love each other and how they take care of each other...that is so precious to me...
  3. A walk on the Core Trail with a friend in nice warm spring weather...and there are these cute little purple flowers out already, so fun to see them...
  4. Building a train track upstairs for Luke...
  5. Huge whining and complaining from the kids about going to the grocery store, so I was dreading taking them in. But on the way in a guy who worked there mentioned the free fruit they have for kids to snack on while Mama shops and so we stopped and got a banana and their attitudes totally turned around and we had a great time shopping...
  6. Sausage hash for dinner (which the kids totally ate, by the way)...
  7. Ninja football, which is so hilarious to watch. It's the Broncos (good guys) against the Pittsburg Steelers (bad guys) and this game was all about powers. "Shark power!" Luke would yell and the Broncos would chomp the Steelers. "Sandstorm power!" Sis would say and the kids would sit on their butts on the wood floor and lift their feet and spin around and around really fast, making wind.
  8. Winnie the Pooh...just loving Winnie the Pooh right now...
  9. Snuggling the kids until they fall asleep...again I had work to do...but I need to spend my time with these kids, that's what matters to me...
  10. Day 2 of Whole 30 successfully completed...
  11. My husbands crazy 2 weeks of work is over...we've missed him!!

  1. Loved having Ben and Jaimie and Bodie and Bailee up for a super-quick visit, so sweet of them to come help us celebrate with the twins, especially with everything else they have going on with sports etc. Made us feel so loved...
  2. Luke to Bodie this morning when Bodie was trying to bury him all stretched out in pillows on the couch: "I'm 5 now. I'm longer than expected!"
  3. Lunch in the sunshine by the river...lovely...
  4. On the porch looking at swimsuits online with Jeff and he was showing me some on the (very) skimpy side. "There's no way I could wear that to the Hot Springs," I said. Zo overheard and a short time later she was sitting in my lap looking with me and said, pointing to a suit, "Oh, there's no way I could wear that to the Hot Springs!"
  5. Luke playing out in the park with some visiting neighbor children...the other kids are older but being so sweet to him. Kids are getting old enough where I feel comfortable having them go out there by themselves while I watch from the porch...what freedom for Mommy and kiddos...
