Indoor "snowball" (aka paper towel) fight

Kids love playdates and Sam and Amby are some of their favorite friends. The kids were the cutest with their little "snowball" fight the other day...

In no particular order...

  1. Was present

  4. Balanced work properly
  5. Spent time with/gave attention to the people I care about
  6. Said morning prayers, meditated, did yoga
  7. Hiked, camped, snowboarded
  8. Read, watched, listened to things that had meaning
  9. Made my marriage a priority
  10. Played with my kids
  11. Celebrated special days
  12. Traveled
  13. Wrote

Ornaments in the woods, pretending to be a bear + excited for 2018!!

  1. A hike to "Grass Rock" from our house up Fox Creek Trail this afternoon with hot chocolate and energy bars once we arrived...kids are such great hikers these days...on the way someone has hung red ornaments from branches in the woods...so unexpected and charming...and the kids ran from tree to tree discovering them...on the way back they had me pretend I was a bear and stood their ground 'til I got close and then ran and ran, laughing like crazy...
  2. I helped the kids make "Cootie Catchers" today, little origami fortune telling toys that I remember from my elementary-school days. What fun we had making them and then using them...
  3. We just ordered pizza and are going to do pizza and a movie tonight...we NEVER order delivery (and I almost never eat pizza, though I love it), so what a treat!!
  4. Gorgeous sunset tonight...deep pink clouds on both sides of Mt. Werner...
  5. Feeling happy and hopeful and grateful on this first day of 2018...

Happy New Year!!

5/50 (New Year's Eve)

Crowded still but nice and warm and kids were delightful all afternoon.

Luke's going a little too fast and getting a little too far ahead...working on those things...but they're both great about waiting up for the stragglers and Sis is soooooo much more comfortable on her skis than she was a few sessions ago. They are both looking great!!

Oh and without poles Luke has decided that the way to navigate uphill or on flats is to take off one ski. It's just like Mommy unstrapping one foot from her snowboard, right? It actually works pretty well...

Inconsistent snow (Why Not was pretty terrible) and Zoey's first little jumps ever...off a rock on the side of the trail and then in the terrain park. You should have seen her huge smiles!

Serious crowds and kiddie meltdowns (one per kid, luckily not at the same time), but we still had a glorious afternoon on the mountain with warm temps, blue skies, good snow, Luke doing some jumps and last run of the day playing "Evildoer," where Luke led the way and we chased him down, laughing the whole way...

I've also told the kids on the way home from skiing in the car there can be "potty talk," which is generally not allowed and they think is the funniest...

We're headed back tomorrow...

"Ta-ta!," Beat Bugs + a day on the mountain is in store...

  1. Kids saying "Ta-ta!" every time they leave me...they got it from one of our favorite books of this past year, Du Iz Tak?
  2. Got to see a dear friend and meet her newly adopted son last night...
  3. Lovely evening in the hot springs with the kids...
  4. Kids are loving their X-mas presents...
  5. We've been watching Beat Bugs...so fun...love the Beatles...
  6. Thinking a lot about intentions for the new year..."rest" and "simplicity" are words that keep coming to mind...
  7. Taking the dog to the vet for an annual check-up this morning and then off with the kids to ski...

Happy Thursday!
