Oscar contenders someday?, connecting dimensions + Island Time, doctor's office edition
- Kids don't do it very often...but maybe we need to do it more because they love love love making movies...from writing to costumes to sets to filming on my phone...I'm planning to show this pic at the afterparty when Miss Zo wins an Oscar someday... ;)
- A solo hike yesterday thanks to my husband...trying to get things a little more balanced in my life...
- Kids are currently happily drawing in the garage...I'm setting up a little spot for each of them in my garage office...so they'll have a place for homework and creativity...
- Luke says he's making "A tape bridge to every dimension..."
- Doctor's visit this morning, kids are healthy and growing just fine...
- My husband talking me down when I was overwhelmed by how long said doctor's visit took. Island Time. I keep forgetting about Island Time...aka when a well-child check takes 3 hours and you haven't yet eaten breakfast and brought nothing with you to entertain two 6-year-olds...
- Our next-door neighbors could not be nicer...so grateful...
Happy Wednesday!

Kapalua Beach Trail
Our first official hike on Maui and what a great one! We went on the Kapalua Beach Trail just the kids and I as Daddy had a dinner he had to go to (at the Ritz, boy I wish I'd been invited to that!) We started an hour and a half before sunset and got to see so many different things including one of the fanciest hotels on the island, people cliff diving (Luke really wants to do it, I told him practice your swimming), lava rocks, sand dunes, surfers, a Hawaiian burial ground, half a dozen brides on various beaches. We ended at the Montage beach for a picnic and some frolicking. Such fun...

Girls night, getting the upstairs set up + magic in the night sky
- Erranding with my loves yesterday and then a little girls night with my friend Vanessa...so fun...
- Got both kids settled into their rooms. They've got plenty of room for their clothes and toys and their rooms are a work in progress but they are coming together so cute!
- Woke up for a 5 AM call today, saw that it had been cancelled, then went back to bed for a couple hours. I didn't sleep well last night so really needed that extra time. Definitely in the process of fine-tuning how I work here in order to be available/get work done but also get enough sleep/have the right work/life balance. Not getting enough sleep has been an issue, also having time to myself. Working on addressing...
- Sun tea...yum...
- Going to make shrimp ceviche for dinner...also yum...
- The crescent moon with Venus last night was magical...
Happy Monday!
Luke lost his tooth!, lots of plans for the coming week and beyond + what a beautiful morning
- Luke lost his first tooth yesterday!! And the tooth fairy came with a Susan B. Anthony dollar and 2 chocolate coins...Luke and Zo ran down to show me this morning, they were so excited. Luke said there were a couple spots of black fairy dust on his wall too...maybe the tooth fairy should bring extra fairy dust next time she comes...
- Slept in today, I have been so overtired getting up at 5 AM every day for work...was wonderful to catch up on sleep...
- And kids are having their screen time right now and I'm having some down time upstairs and getting organized for the week...very much needed...
- Have just made a list of hiking trails near us...next week kids and I are going to explore every day...need to start getting some consistent exercise, have not yet found my groove here...excited...
- And have found a Bikram yoga studio...
- And am really hugely looking forward to surfing once the kids are back in school...
- The view from Sissy's bed where I'm writing this out towards the mountains is so beautiful...and the little old church down the street the bell is ringing to start services...and birds are chirping and the rooster is crowing, a breeze is blowing its cloudy and misty and patches of sunny today...tropical greenery everywhere I look...feeling lucky to be alive...
Happy Sunday!
