Luke and Zoey turn 7!
A lovely start to the kids’ birthday with Luke waking up early and coming down to make himself and his Sissy Lucky Charms to eat in bed. (One of our birthday traditions is the kids can have “sugar cereal,” which they never get, and they can have breakfast in bed.)
“Happy Birthday Cupcake!” he said to wake his Sissy.
There were unicorn charms in the cereal and Zo said, “I’m praying for each one to go to heaven before I eat it.”
Oh and the kids both told me they are not 7 until 10 PM which is when they were born, so I still had a little more time to enjoy them being 6.
We did cupcakes at school and all our family called which meant so much and dinner out with Daddy and story time with Luke and Zo falling asleep curled up next to me warm and sweet…
It was a good birthday.

Favorite sounds, "Snuggle Snooze Wakeup" + new sports
Zo first thing the other morning: “I hear birds chirping. It’s one of my favorite sounds.”
Kids first asked for a “snooze wakeup” 15 minutes before they had to get out of bed. That has evolved into a “snuggle snooze wakeup.” Which is awesome. On a related note I’ve been getting up at 6 instead of 5 lately and that really helps with not being so tired during the day (and, more importantly, getting to spend more time with my husband in the evening…)
Zo started gymnastics this week and after she said she “Ultra-love it!!” Her coach says she’s really strong too and should be in a class with girls her age within a month (she’s starting with the 4-5-year-old beginners as she is a beginner…)
Luke started wrestling this week up in Napili and it’s so old-school Hawaiian…down into a ravine I didn’t know was there into an old barn where they lay down the mats. The pic above was taken Thursday right outside. Everyone has been incredibly kind and welcoming, like all of Hawaii has been to us…

Jui Jitsu promotions, learning to tie laces + waterslide fun
Zo and Luke both got Jui Jitsu promotions yesterday and another stripe on their belts, so proud of them…
And they both needed new shoes and wanted ones with laces and learned how to tie them so easily…
Saturday I took the whole day off no work no errands no housework…it was divine…I wanted to take Sunday off as well! The best parts were playing a matching game with Luke and him being cool about it when he lost (he has a bad track record of throwing fits when he loses games) and playing “farmyard” with Zo with all her stuffs and she put down brown skirts for mud for the pigs, blue shirts for water for the ducks, the rabbit in a hole with an orange sunglass case for a carrot, etc. She’s so creative!
The big waterside this weekend and Zo was so brave and such big smiles and wanting to go again…
Feeling sad as my uncle Jeff passed away yesterday…not just sad that he died but sad about his whole family situation with my cousins…love how sweet my dad has been to them…
Yoga again today and boy was it hard!!
Happy Tuesday!

Wakeup snuggles, spirit animals + sparkle shoes
So grateful to have had my parents here for 2 weeks!
Their grandparents are gone now and kids are back in their own rooms, but this morning I found that Luke had snuck back into Sissy’s room to sleep there after tuck-in…
And both kids have asked for a snooze wakeup (where I wake them at 6:15 and let them go back to sleep until 6:30. And they’ve also asked for snuggles at both the snooze wakeup and the actual wakeup…how can I resist?
Luke to Sis: “What’s a spirit animal?” Sis: “It’s the animal you are best at acting as.”
Loving reading Little House to the kids…takes me back to my own childhood…
Kids are soooo excited about their upcoming birthday…
And Zo is soooo excited about starting gymnastics…love the sparkle in her eye…
And Zo has outgrown/worn out her school shoes, so after the airport the other day we went shoe shopping and she found the perfect pair, pink and super super sparkly…love how girly she is…
Happy Friday!

Little House, Date Night + a relaxing Sunday
A picture of my dad from a few days ago…we’ve all been having so much fun! So grateful he and my mom are visiting…
My mom reading “Little House” books to me and the kids…takes me back to being six myself…
2 dates in 2 weeks with my husband! We need to make this a regular thing…
Watching “Bodyguard” with my dad, it’s so good…
We’d planned on the Road to Hana today but my mom’s a little under the weather so we are having a relaxing day at home…so lovely to relax…
Happy Sunday!
LOL dolls, garden dreams, morning quiet
Zo spent her allowance on LOL dolls (that her friends at school have been playing with) and had so much fun yesterday when the box arrived from Amazon…
Oh how I love having my parents visit!!
Gardening advice from Duane yesterday, getting excited about fresh vegetables!
Zo tried out a gymnastics class the other day and is going to start once my parents leave…she had such fun in the class, I’m excited for her!
Quiet except for the rooster crowing and the click-click-click of our happy waving cat…
Happy Wednesday!

A spider web, a planter and a sunset...
My parents are here and I’m trying to stay offline as much as possible to soak them up while they are visiting…but here are a few pics from the last few days, including a spiderweb Luke watched the spider “knit” (Luke was home sick last week, better now), the start of our vegetable garden planter that is coming along, and a beach sunset I got to watch with my dad…
Happy Monday!

Rainy-day pics, Luke cuteness + my parents are here yay!
Love these rainy day pictures because they’re so different for what you see as typical Hawaii…
Luke is sick and Sis was a little scared to go to school by herself…Luke totally on his own initiative wrote her a sweet little note to keep in her pocket all day…
Luke: “I watched that spider knit his web together!”
Nice little break in the storms today…
Grateful we have health insurance and it’s no problem having Luke seen at the doctor today…
Happy Wednesday!
