Working on the business, a rainy weekend, comfort food for dinner + "In the Dark"
Some lovely things from the past few days:
Errands like the bank are always more fun with kids
Horizontal rainbow over the ocean in front of Molokai the other day…it was unreal…
I took a full day to work on my business and what a difference it made! I feel on top of everything vs like everything is spinning out of control. My goal is to do that once a month…
It’s been windy and rainy so we’ve had an indoor weekend, it’s been really relaxing
Sweet potato chowder and salad all prepped for dinner tonight…
There’s sun back in part of my garden, going to try and do some planing in between rainstorms
Luke is in love with a poem by A.A. Milne called In the Dark and is having me read it every night
Been playing the ukulele while sining bedtime songs tot he children…
I started The Brothers Karamazov over and am almost to the place where I stopped last time (about p 300)…kids and I have been reading together a little (each our own book) which is making it possible for me to get some personal reading done…
Getting invites together for the kids’ birthdays today…good to be celebrating them…
Yoga, a video, a pink unicorn + lentils
Some lovely things today:
A walk to the beach with Newton between meetings for a surf check and the water is just so clear today…and Jeff watched the kids this evening so I could do a yoga class which I never do in the evening…felt so great…
A video project at work I’m excited about…
Kids still love it when I walk them to their classroom in the morning…and when I give them sleep tuck-ins at night…they’re going to be 8 so soon and I feel like days of doing those things are numbered…
The pink unicorn with a rainbow horn drawing that’s on my desk…
Lentils for lunch…lentils are my favorite thing right now…

A shipwreck, dress up, chapter books + wildlife
A few delightful things that happened today:
Kids and I had a little time to kill and spotted this shipwreck…feel sorry for the owner of this boat but it was interesting to see
Newton went to the vet today and got a clean bill of health
There’s no way I’m ever going to get a picture of this but Zo’s new favorite thing is to play “dress up” with Daddy, which involves covering him with jewelry, hair bows, etc. It’s pretty awesome
Zo is all of a sudden reading chapter books!
Tried to surf this morning and there were no waves but there were some whales frolicking, and a turtle, which I always think of as my brother Luke saying hello

Johnathan and Jo's House Blessing
Really special day on Sunday at a true Hawaiian house blessing…love when things like this happen when you for sure are not a tourist…

Mid-February 2020
Started the week with a trip to the beach and a sand castle with tunnels underneath, amazing how much sand you can dig away and the castle still stands!
Also kids had Monday off school and we went to the lavender farm which was so fun, especially since they had a scavenger hunt for the kids, Luke and Zo had the best time with it! They brought their lavender-stuffed stuffies that their grandparents gave them years ago and “Team Lavender Stuffie” found all the items in the hunt.
Wrapped up with a great playdate with friend where the boys and the girls each had their own forts. Such a fun night and then dinner out with the family last night, and a party today which I’ll post about separately. So yeah, great week all around.
Happy Sunday!

Valentine's Week 2020
Whales and first week of chess club and Vanessa’s birthday (SUCH a fun night out, we had a blast) and a mellow Valentine’s day. Also the beach with Kona and Kina. Also class Valentine’s party which I’ll do as a separate post, I was just realizing the other day I’d taken a lot of pics in the Valentine’s party kids had in first grade, fun to have pics of most of the same kids a year older.
Happy Sunday!

Early February
Aloha!
Kind of a mellow week around here…Sis was home sick most of it and I wasn’t 100% either. We got our coconut trees trimmed and worked on our Valentines gifts for the kids friends, bikes in the driveway with next-door-neighbor Elija, some good surfing and hiking…and whales, oh my the whales are here…so fun…
Happy Sunday!
Late January, Early February
Great surfing (even though the waves are small…still fun).
Luke tried hot chili sauce and wasn’t a fan.
Kids skateboarding.
Mrs. Lolesio’s birthday.
One of my top-10 ever surfing days Sunday with a friend and fun little waves and warm sun and water, whales, a turtle slapping me with his flipper, a little gang of local kids (maybe 8 or 9 years old) that all hopped in the water at once.
Groundhog cookies.
The Super Bowl.
The car wash, which my kids still find delightful…these days we pretend we are going through a monster’s digestive tract lol.
Life is goooood…

Skate park, pinworms + fun nights and days
Great week this week with Monday off school and Tuesday off as well for Luke…we had a little pinworm situation (easily taken care of with over-the-counter medicine and 15 loads of laundry), and the sign Luke made related to that made me laugh so hard.
We’re also mid-puzzle (which we don’t do very often but it’s been fun), Tiny made a trip to the bank, we spent an afternoon at the skate park, kids are donating all their allowance to the American Heart Association (a few months worth, so proud of them for wanting to do that). And Jeff and I had date night, I had a night out with friends and kids had a birthday pool party on Saturday up in Kapalua that was so fun…their (birthday boy’s family) front yard (last pic) took my breath away…we don’t normally end up in places like that lol…
Happy Sunday!
