Books, a murder mystery, malasadas + a Lu’au
Fun stuff this past week with:
Books coming in the mail from Grammy and Papa (thank you!)
A wild west murder mystery party with our pod of people
Making malasadas at the school, so fun!
A socially distanced school Lu’au, which was absolutely magical. Luke and Zo performed, they were so nervous but both did great
Nice walk with John and Jo on Sunday, followed by lunch in Pa’ia
Happy Monday!

Easter 2021
We had such a nice Easter weekend with egg coloring on Saturday, followed by breakfast bunnies on Easter followed by a rainy hike to the duck pond and an egg hunt in the yard and a couple friends over for dinner. Fun and mellow.
Happy Tuesday!!

Beach meditation, belated birthday brunch + a science experiment
Hi! A few pics and some notes from the past couple weeks:
I’ve been doing a meditation on the beach a few times a week…seen some beautiful things
We went out for a belated birthday brunch with the kids…we don’t go out to eat much anymore so it was extra special
Kids mixed up cornstarch and water for a solid liquid
When I work on the back porch sometimes I have lizards for company
Zoe and Luke’s “Piggie’s Adventures” stop motion animation tied for first place in the school-wide talent show…so proud of them…
Other than all that just mostly staying home and spending time together. Life is good.

"Boss of the House" days, "Danger Club" + Luke and Zoe turn 9!!
Kids birthday weekend this past weekend! Some highlights:
Crazy rain and surf, although not on their actual birthday
Kids each got to be “Boss of the House” one day, which means they got to choose meals and activities (with the caveats that they couldn’t be on screens all day and they had to eat some fruits and vegetables.) Still, they got a lot more screen time and a lot more treats than normal. Zoe said at the end of it: “Good thing we don’t do “Boss of the House Day” everyday. We would be fat, dumb and spoiled!”
We were watching one of the kids’ friends over the weekend, and they are also playing a lot with our next-door neighbor. The four of them formed the “Danger Club” over the weekend out in the palms…
We had a very small outdoor birthday party, very informal, the only game the donut game where they try to be the first to eat a donut without hands. I made them each a cake and we ordered pizza and the kids ran around the backyard…turned out great…
Nine is going to be a great year!!
Happy Wednesday!

Biking in the neighborhood + windmills hike
Kids have been riding their bikes a lot lately, I let them go up and down the hill when I’m watching. We also hiked up towards the windmills Sunday although we didn’t make it the whole way…we’ll have to go back!
Happy Tuesday!

I feel the need to mention that not all our days look like this…some days I work a lot more, weekends have a different rhythm. But I’m wanting to do “day in the life” again first of each month and whatever that particular day looks like is what it is…

Morning in the park, movie making + a pretty cake
Some highlights from last week:
Breakfast in the park
iPAD time (kids are playing games together more often than not)
Movie making…check out the finished product here
Cake baking (the cake was delicious but I’m especially proud of how pretty it looks! I had the book My Paleo Patisserie from the library a while back and finally got a digital copy. Everything we’ve tried has been so great!
Waicoco for brunch and a visit with Keoki, a bird at the hotel that the kids love
Other than that surfing, working, spending time together as a family. Also kids and I have a game we call “Kraken” where I pretend to be a giant octopus and chase them around the house and the yard trying to catch them…it’s silly but so fun, lots of laughter. Also I can’t remember if I shared this here yet or not but Zo says when I go in her room and mess up the legos on accident that “Momagedden” has happened, hahaha.
Happy Friday!

Waicoco opens, some normality + bamboo in the movies and real life
Last week the restaurant Jeff has been helping with—Waicoco—opened and we met Jon and Jo for breakfast there, there were whales and a beautiful rainbow…it was magical. We haven’t been out since Ben and Jaime were here and nice to do some more normal things including a walk to S-turns with the kids (which we have been doing), a lunch date with Jeff at Marlin on Saturday and Sephora for the first time in a year. We also did a bamboo/waterfall hike on the Road to Hana on Sunday (after watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the night before with its famous bamboo scene). It was very wet with rain and stream crossings, but so fun.
Happy Thursday!

Valentine's Day 2021
