"Where are you going tonight?" Zo asked. "Are you going to be here to tuck me in?"

"No," I said. "I'm going out with Papa."

"Why?"

"Well. you know how you like to have special time with your Daddy? Just the two of you? I like to have that too."

Fireworks

We went for a hike up Dinosaur Hill the night of the 4th, Luke, Zo and my mom and Dad...the kids are turning into such great little hikers and from the top we watched the fireworks people were setting off in Fruita and far away in Junction, the orange glow of a fire out by Palisade, the faraway lightening behind us, and the kids did sparklers which they loved and Zo got cold and cuddled in Pap's lap and the wind was blowing and it smelled of rain and gunpowder and the far-away sound of the fireworks and my children's laughter and just all being together...it was magical...

Kid Cuteness, June 29, 2015

Me (teasing the kids): "Who's going to give me their dessert?"

Sis: "I will!"

Me: "Awww, you're so sweet!"

Sis: "I'll give it to you so you can open it for me!"

Zo: "I'm going to be a chef when I grow up. I'm going to bake cakes!"

Luke, standing high on my shoulders: "I'm God!"

Luke, as he separated each page of a newspaper: "Look Mom! I'm unpacking it!"

Zo, swinging from a tree branch: "This is what life is all about!"

Luke and Zo calling each other "My Zoey" and "My Luke."

The kids are all about being a different baby animal lately. Baby bear, baby stingray, baby bird, baby humpback whale, baby kitty, baby humpback bird...

Zo, swinging from a tree branch: "This is what life is all about!"

Luke, after getting scratched by a rosebush: "That's a mean rosebush!"

Luke, after we talked about the bacteria that gave his Papa an infection. "I will fight that bacteria for Papa!" And: "Maybe we can just put up a BIG stop sign so the bacteria know to stop."

Luke, eating the Rocky Road ice cream he picked out: "Mama, why are there no rocks in it?"

Homemade Crayons Are So Cool!

My good friend Ann has been doing childcare for me mornings while I work. She is fantastic with the kids. Every day she brings something new for them to play with/do...yesterday it was to melt scraps of crayons in the sun, then put them in molds and into the freezer. The result was these beautiful multi-colored crayons in the shapes of flowers and hearts and stars...seriously cool...

XOXO
