Grace in small things, November 16, 2016
- Zo is already helping herself to clothes from my closet, lol. "I'm a fuzzy thief!" she said to me tonight laughing, running upstairs with this fluffy white vest of mine. She's sleeping tonight curled up in it...
- A very short-lived illness in Luke this morning, throwing up between 2 and 8 AM and after that a piece of toast and it was like nothing ever happened...
- Our next-door neighbor stopping to play with Luke when he (Luke), bat and ball in hand, was waiting in the driveway for me and Sis to make it outside to play...super sweet...
- The best news today from one of my dear friends...
- And, feeling tons of love from so many corners this evening...especially from my husband and also and my kids who made me flowers out of legos to put on my bedside table and smothered me with hugs tonight saying, "Extra love! Extra love!"

- Kids playing dinosaurs with their plastic dinos down in the living room this morning...and handing me a circle of paper and asking me to crash it into the earth as a meteor...lol...
- Nice T-shirt-weather-warm walk with a friend and her young son while our kids were in preschool...lovely to be out in the woods and I'm really enjoying getting to know this woman... :)
- Staying home this morning and getting lots of things taken care of. (Although I'm still not unpacked. And there are still decorations from Halloween around. Sigh. Oh, well, there's always tomorrow...)
- Fancy freeze tag on the lawn with the kids...we've been playing every day...
- Picking out outfits with the kids this morning, and then them dressing themselves...

New Orleans 2016
We've been going to New Orleans for little getaways for several years now...there's something about it we just love...
Some great new things (Whitney Plantation, oh my gosh amazing, they give you the story from the point of view of the slaves; the Ace Hotel with its masculine rooms and rooftop pool and 60's-esque living room-esque bar/lobby, really too cool for us but we loved it; Seaworthy; Elle; Willa Jean) mixed in with things and places we know and love (Steve + Keith, long city walks each day, Carousel Bar, Coops). Great trip. Missed the kids. Also watched the election results roll in there...surreal...
Glad to be home...

- Lots of fun time with my kids today...
- Nice hike with the dog early...
- A long uninterrupted (!) shower while the kids played "Peeps" with laundry baskets (essentially, chickens hatching out of eggs)
- A magic show/musical performed by the kids before bedtime...
- Caught up (enough anyway) on work errands etc...

In which Papa carves pumpkins with Zoey and Luke
I think everyone agreed that the highlight of pumpkin carving was the heart eyes put on Zo's pumpkin at her request. (She asked for heart teeth as well but Papa nixed that.)
Thank you Papa for bringing joy to my children (and me).
