Grace in small things, January 24, 2017

1. Kids are so cute doing ice skating lessons...
2. Nice blustery walk with a friend today on Spring Creek Trail while the kids were in preschool...gorgeous in the snow...
3. So grateful for our warm house on these cold, cold days...
4. Kids are much better sick-wise...and I'm getting there...although I skipped a powder day on the mountain this morning so that gives you an idea how I'm still feeling...
5. Way fewer conference calls this week vs last...makes everything much saner...

1. Kids and I are down for the count with colds...but so grateful that it's both minor and temporary...
2. My husband helping at 5 AM when Bubs woke us up crying with an earache...
3. Kids playing Uno with each other on the stairs today...first time I've seen them play a game like that without an adult...so cute...
4. Glad I made fruit cup Saturday...ate the whole batch today...the citrus has got to help, right?
5.  All my work done smooth and easy (and from bed...so nice to work from home!)...not always the case so grateful when that happens...

1. Lunch in Edwards (as a central meeting point) with my mom and dad and brother...great to see everyone and love these pics of Sis with her Papa...
2. Saw a beautiful eagle and some deer on the drive...and alpacas too at what we call "Alpaca Corner"...
3. Jeep's back with Ben getting some final things done...love what we've done with our jeep...can't wait 'til it's time to take it out again...
4. Zo and I snuggled on the couch earlier talking about birthdays and summer picnics, sipping hot tea...
5. We're all (except my husband) a bit under the weather...he's getting takeout for us and we're all going to snuggle up and watch a movie...good to have some down time and sweet of my husband to take care of us...he's the best...

1. Uno with the kids on a snowy cold Saturday...
2. Homemade applesauce and fruit cup in the fridge...
3. Errands, paperwork, work items handled (not the funnest way to spend part of a Saturday, but good to get on top of things. Plus I'm a little under the weather which squashed snowboarding plans...)
4. Kids so hug-y and loving with each other lately...
5. Books snuggled up on the couch together...

Grace in small things, January 19, 2017

1. Kids playing together tonight waiting for Daddy to get home...love how much fun the two of them have (most of the time)
2. Great morning on the mountain, a friend and fast groomers and blue skies and sunshine...
3. Got to Luke's ski lesson before he was done so I could watch a little and oh my gosh that boy is skiing!! "Red light! Green light! Purple light!" the instructor said to him and he did a pizza and stopped, started going again, and did a little jump on command. So excited for him! And for me because I think I'm going to be able to take him on the mountain with me this year! :) (Zo apparently wasn't feeling it today...but last week her instructor gave her a glowing report...)
4. "Kitty pile" on the bed tonight (kids are pretending they're kitties these days), it was nice to take some time just to love on them...
5. The kids telling me about acting out "Three Billy Goats Gruff" in preschool today. Zo was the biggest goat. Luke was the troll. I wish I'd been there to see that. :)

Grace in small things, January 18, 2017

1. Luke and his legos...always building something for Mama and Daddy these days... (Sis too...)
2. We've been reading a great kids book called "Penguin Problems," about a little penguin that has a million things to complain about. (Great book.) And this week (and last too) has been terrible for me with conference calls everywhere and lots and lots of other busyness, making me super frazzled. Luke and I were discussing how I don't want to be doing conference calls like this in particular and don't want to be busy like this in general and what to do to fix the situation. "Mommy," he said. "You've got Person Problems!"
3. Luke: "Do aliens exist?" Me: "No one knows." Luke: "Well, why don't I just go to the rocket store, build a rocket, go to space and find out!" Me: "You probably need a degree in aerospace engineering to do that, Buddy." And later, Luke to his Daddy: "I'm going to be a space aero engineer!" (Daddy would love it if his kids turned out to be engineers. And Zo's been saying lately that she wants her daddy's job when she grows up...)
4. Dentist this evening for the kids...they love going to the dentist, which is great, they are great with kids there...
5. Hugs and love and forgiveness from the kids for a grumpy, yell-y Mommy tonight. I've just got too much going on and it comes out as less patience for the kids...must fix this...

Grace in small things, January 17, 2017

1. Haircut for Sis today, with the kids in hilarious-slash-a-little-too-hyper form and a sweet stylist who deals well with 4-year-olds...
2. I got to spend the day at preschool today with Luke and Zo, it was so special to get to do that...
3. The kids' ice skating teacher didn't show up today, but Luke totally took it in stride and just skated/wobbled his way out to where the big girls were having their lesson and practiced on the periphery
4. So grateful that the chaos of today is the exception not the rule (with hours and hours and hours of conference calls and trying to get work done as well, going to preschool with the kids, calling a friend, stuff for MOPS, ice skating, haircut, dinner, laundry, walking the dog, the kids needing me sunup to sundown and beyond, etc, etc....and I was going to snowboard today too and I'm sorry I missed that but there was just no way...)
5. And, grateful to have a husband who helps me to make logical choices and is supportive of me when things get crazy (thanks especially for the multiple trips to the grocery store and the kitchen cleanup tonight, Love!)
6. Almost 11 PM and I'm about to wrap up for the night, with Bubs snuggled up asleep beside me on the couch (he had insomnia tonight...didn't get to sleep until about 15 minutes ago)...will carry him up to bed, spend a few minutes with my husband on the porch, eat a Cutie (I've been craving them like crazy), try and get some sleep...

Grace in small things, January 16, 2017

1. At the vet with our dog Newton today. (And what do you do while waiting for the vet if you're 4? Run around in circles, of course!) Had a tiny lump removed from his shoulder, all went very smoothly...
2. Zo waking me up this morning around 7 AM saying, "Mommy, I started the coffee for you." I usually set it up the night before and have asked her to flip the switch to turn it on a few times, but this is the first time she's taken initiative...so sweet...
3. My husband had the day off today and I love watching the kids with their Daddy...they adore him...
4. Luke has been wanting to do yoga poses with me. (They've been doing yoga in preschool.) It's usually pretty standard stuff but this morning he set up a couch cushion on the hardwood floor and then ran and dove on it chest first, making it slide halfway across the room. "OK, Mommy," he said. "That's our first pose! Your turn!" I could not stop laughing... 
5. So we went out to dinner and then it was a problem leaving because of these guys:

Grace in small things, January 14 and 15, 2017

1. Beautiful snowy walk Saturday morning with Newton, and Sunday on the Core Trail with my husband...
2. Sleigh ride dinner we won at my husband's holiday party...loved the big (sweaty at the end of the ride) horses with their jingling bells, the cold night air, the peacefulness along the road, the warmth of our hosts, it was really fun...
3. Speaking of sleighs, Luke is upstairs having trouble going to sleep and singing Jingle Bells in his bed over and over, very loudly...
4. Girl time with Sis today...my favorite part was sitting in one of the big leather chairs at Starbucks sideways our legs over one of the arms looking out at the winter and seeing how many colors we could find...
5. My husband cooked dinner and we had Movie Night with The Secret Life of Pets...fun and relaxing, like the rest of this lovely little weekend...

Grace in small things, January 13, 2017

1. Absolutely perfect powder conditions on the mountain this morning...
2. ...and I love our little mama's snow club we've got going so there are people to share it with! :)
3. Curled up on the couch with the kids reading books this afternoon, our limbs all intertwined. We've had a very hectic week...wonderful to have a little down time...
4. Kids are getting so independent...they checked out their own library books today (with me watching from a distance) and did their own little Starbucks special treat order...it's hard having them growing up and losing the baby things, but I am also delighted by the new things they can do...
5. Light fog and pretty warm out...nice night for time on the porch with my husband...
