Grace in small things, February 6, 2017
- Luke: "Mommy, will you be my Valentine?"
- Cleaning, organizing, laundry, work today...but also watching Sis do a show in her room, me on her bed with Luke and lots of stuffies (the show involved a Valentine's rendition of Jingle Bells, e.g., "Dashing through the hearts...") and lots of snuggling up on the couch with the kids...
- Hot springs after dinner, lovely with the moon and stars and Venus and sparkle lights all around...put kids in their pajamas there and they came right home and went straight to sleep. They also ate a great dinner as we told them we weren't going to the hot springs unless they did. May need to do this more often... :)
- Got organized for making Valentines with the kids...looking forward to that...
- Lots of paleo options in the fridge for this week...

Sunday at the library...
We were going to go to the hot springs so Daddy could see how great the kids are swimming, but it was closed so we ended up at the library instead, engineering tracks for wooden balls ("You've got to build and then test," Daddy said to the kids) and playing "Lily Pad" with the cushions where if you are not on a lily pad Daddy alligator might get you.
Fun place to spend some time on a cold Sunday...

Little Skiiers!
A big milestone for me and the kids this weekend with all 3 of us out on the bunny hill skiing/riding a bunch of runs together! :) I can't tell you how happy this makes me! Last year aside from lessons we spent our time on a tiny hill where they could go straight and be fine as I wasn't confident at all in their control. This year they are definitely still learning, but I also feel comfortable that they aren't just going to point straight down the hill, that they can turn and stop and avoid obstacles, etc.
I didn't get pictures but their cousin Bailee and Auntie Jaimie were with us and so sweet helping the kids out. Loved having them (and Bodie) up this weekend.
So thrilled to be out skiing with Luke and Zo! So proud of them!

- Clean house (or part of it anyway)...
- Jaimie, Bailee and Bodie here...love them...
- Kids beside themselves with excitement to see their cousins...

- Super fun morning on the mountain this morning (my first in a while), and also snowman building today, and kids sledding on the massive pile of snow outside our house...love being in Steamboat...
- Kids had their last of this block of ski lessons this morning and they're doing so great! Think we're going to go into February...
- Company's coming...
- Zo playing "doctor visit" with me. She checks me out so carefully with her play pink stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, thermometer...she washes the thermometer off after she's done too because her brother is very vocal about not liking other people's spit...
- Our internet spontaneously fixed itself today vs me having to go to Xfinity and figure it out...love when that happens...

- The love and sweetness that just radiates off my kids these days...they are such a delight...
- Work deadlines once again sanely met...I'm even going to get on the mountain tomorrow, yay!
- Lots of time with friends today...
- Zo finally getting outside to build her baby snowman, something she's been talking about doing for days...
- The Magicians with my husband tonight once we get the kids down...it's so good...

- Feeling really loved and supported by my husband today...
- In kind of a crazy work space right now, but everything is getting taken care of...
- Kids full-on skating at ice skating lessons today...so fun to watch them get it...so proud of them...
- Warmer weather (low 30s) has been a nice break...last week was so harshly cold...
- Knowing when to say no to keep my schedule sane...getting better at doing that...

- Lots of focused time with the kids this morning playing dollhouse and pirates with Sis and building a marble track (and accidentally wrecking it) with Luke, reading stories, putting dinner together in the crock pot, running errands...
- Loving our new couch cushions! And the kids aren't allowed to take them off the couch but they've been making forts on the couch with them for the last 1/2 hour...and when we read they first surround us with pillows..."We're making a corral!" they say...
- Started the week off feeling very organized and in control...
- Work day turned crazy but glad that is the exception these days and not the rule...
- Venus and the moon in the southwestern sky this evening...gorgeous...
Grace in small things, January 27, 2017
- Days are getting longer, slowly but surely...
- Lots of games (Candyland, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Count Your Chickens) with the kids today (we're all feeling under the weather again after getting on the mountain yesterday...coldest day of the year for me by far...) And we snuggled in bed and watched The Martian in the middle of the day...I was kind of surprised it held their attention but it did...Sis was very concerned about the astronaut making it home OK...
- Porch time tonight once the kids go down (we've missed some nights this week with colds [me] and business dinners [my husband]) and then we've been watching The Magicians and will finish Season 1 tonight...
- Ate Whole 30 today despite everyone else eating McDonalds for dinner...must do a menu plan for the week tomorrow...oh and I have been craving a raisin bagel with butter like crazy for days but I'm not going to have it...I've been eyeing some bikinis that came in the J Crew catalog yesterday...perfect timing for that catalog to show up...it's keeping me from eating that bagel... :)
- Sweet sunshine-y note from my mom in the mail today...and political and raising girls-related commentary emailed from my dad...love them so much...
