Grace in small things, relaxing at home edition
- I had planned a hike for today but the kids really wanted to relax at home instead, which actually turned out great because I got to take care of some stuff and we're about to go on a little road trip so it's probably better that we lay low before-hand...I always plan too much...we go and do and see a lot and the kids are right, sometimes it's nice just to stay home and chill...
- Luke lets me take just one picture of him these days. It's good discipline. I have to wait until everything's just right vs shooting a bunch and figuring I'll like something out of the batch...
- Luke's love of dryer-warmed towels and PJs after bath, even in the summer...
- Daddy playing upstairs with the kids this evening...
- Beautiful pink sunset during tuck-in tonight...and such lovey and huggy kids...

Grace in small things, summer solstice 2017 edition
- Daddy had to work late, so kids and I had a little impromptu reading-on-the-porch-until-it-was-too-dark-to-read celebration of the summer solstice. We almost finished Charlotte's Web, just a couple chapters to go...
- Fun playdates yesterday and today, and yesterday's was a milestone in that the kids' friend was dropped off and her mom picked her up a few hours later. Moms have always stayed with their kids during playdates as long as we've had them...we're entering a new era...
- Saw I am Not Your Negro at the library last night (thanks to my husband for babysitting!)...really good...really heavy...my husband predicted I wouldn't be able to sleep after seeing it and he was right...
- Bubs snuggled next to me on the porch right now (way past his bedtime) waiting for his Daddy to come home...
- We live in such a beautiful place...so grateful...

Grace in small things, princess-on-a-see-saw edition
- Zo is 100% in charge of choosing her outfits these days, and generally I love her choices. Like this outfit to go play on the see-saws...love...
- Zo flipping the switch this morning to brew the already-set-up coffee...
- Charlotte here to help a few hours with the kids while I work (she was gone last week...it was a juggling act)...and how excited the kids were to have her back and spend time with her...
- Playing "Count Your Chickens" with the kids on the floor of Zo's room before bed...
- Saturn is so big and beautiful in our little corner of the sky right now...

Father's Day 2017
What a great time we had this weekend with kids going on Saturday date night with us (we've agreed they should come occasionally moving forward...we all had so much fun out together...oh and Zo wanted to be twins with me so we matched our dresses and accessories...too cute...) and Daddy making "Birds in a Nest" for Sunday brunch and then we all hiked to the second Fish Creek Falls bridge...hard and steep hike...so proud of the kids they were able to do it!
Great weekend...I'll remember forever...

Bubs cuts his hair + 12 things
Bubs got his hair cut today...it was so long and now it's soooooo short. Looks good. He loves it.
"I look just like Daddy," he says. :)
And also:
- We got a little kiddie pool last week and it's 5 PM on a Saturday right now and the kids are down in the driveway and on the lawn playing an elaborate game of some sort, they play so well together and Jeff and I are on the porch relaxing...ahhhhh...this is amazing...
- Nice walk with the dog today on Fox Creek Trail, yellow flowers are blooming everywhere...
- I know I'm like 5 years behind but I just started watching "Girls." It's so good. I've been staying up way too late just to see another episode. Just started Season 2. Also looking forward to starting House of Cards on a recommendation from my dad (he and I often like the same TV)...
- Starting to read The Brothers Karamazov for the third summer in a row...I have yet to make it past page 100 but think it's going to happen this year...
- Using Bumble & Bumble thickening shampoo and conditioner and surf spray these days...loving the beach waves, so summery...
- My drink of choice on the porch these nights is a margarita with Serrano pepper-infused tequila that my husband made and fresh lime juice and honey so it's paleo-ish...so good...
- Still really enjoying laying with the kids at night until they fall asleep...a time is coming when they're not going to want that...
- Reading Charlotte's Web to the kids...
- Continuing to keep all sorts of personal stuff in a bullet journal...it's been really great to help keep me organized...but the way I'm doing it is super utilitarian and not at all pretty...
- Watched My Little Pony with Zo this morning...one of the few cartoons I really like...
- Charlotte's in Vegas for the week so we're doing Family Date Night tonight...looking forward to dressing up and going out with the kiddos! :)
- Loving summer, we are having so much fun with our friends and family and out of doors...
Paddleboarding with Enya
Love this girl and her sweet Mama! What a fun afternoon we had!

Egg drop
Our library does the coolest stuff. Like this egg drop the other afternoon where they had supplies to build all sorts of vessels and then the fire department came and put their ladder up and and launched each kids' creation.
Sis used a strawberry box with padding and then these great bubble wrap wings she dreamed up. Unfortunately, her egg didn't make it, but she had so much fun building her vessel. :)
Bubs had some tubes and cotton balls and bubble wrap and then a small box and then a big box for the base. His egg survived! He was so proud and excited!
Great fun. :)

Grace in small things: The sunflowers are out edition
- Such a beautiful walk this evening after a rain...the smells take me straight back to my childhood...and the sunflowers are blooming all of a sudden...
- Great playdate with lots of the kids' friends this morning...we've built such a great community up here...
- Kids and I went to the sandwich shop for lunch at their request...they spin on the high spinny stools and get PB&Js...and there's this great kale salad which I'm loving...
- Berries and whipped cream which I've been making with maple syrup as part of our dinner...love love love the berries this time of year...
- Kids and I have started our big Winnie-the-Pooh anthology over from the beginning...they are such sweet stories and so fun to read aloud...
