We were all feeling kind of down after dropping Daddy off at the airport and almost stayed home, but I'm soooooo glad we got out on the mountain yesterday. Nice and warm and the snow is actually really good although a little spring slushy at the bottom and the kids and I just had a ball. I got a bunch of video of Luke that I'll post later but Zo was also doing really great, is getting her speed up, much more comfortable on her skis than she was at the start of the season. It was Super Bowl Sunday too and we got home after hot chocolates and grocery shopping close to halftime and I had dinner and lunches to make and laundry to do and snow stuff to put away so just intermittently watched the game but it was fun to watch for sure. And the kids slept with me last night...Jeff and I decided that's right for us while it's just me and the kids and it's such a treat for them (and less lonely for me).

Decorating for Valentine's, A LOOSE TOOTH! + date night

Kids helped me decorate for Valentine's Day and then said we didn't have enough decorations, so they made some more. :)
ZOEY HAS A LOOSE TOOTH!! And Luke is so cute about it, not jealous at all, just "proud of my Sissy!" When Zo and I had her half-hour today and were doing lessons (she teaching me how to do kid stuff), in between each 2 or 3 minute lesson we had to wiggle our teeth. Such a big girl...so exciting!
Nice snowy walk with the dog this afternoon...
It's been such a lovely, mellow, stay-at-home day with my whole family...one of those days when nothing much happens but so grateful for every minute of it...
Date night with my husband tonight...can't wait...

"Arctic Fox," poop emojis + snow is coming!!

Super fun game of "Arctic Fox" on the bed after school today, where kids pretend to be baby arctic foxes and I'm their mommy...
Volunteering in the classroom...love that I get to do that...
Work at the library which is so lovely...need to do that more often...
The kids want to have the theme of their birthday party (in March) be "Potty Talk," lol. I'm all for giving them autonomy to make their own decisions, but there's no way I'm throwing a birthday party that revolves around poop emojis...gotta draw the line somewhere... :)
We're supposed to get snow for the next week...anxious to get out on the mountain again...it's been a weird year around here with light snowfall and (minor) sicknesses...

Healthy again, MagnaTiles and lessons, The Leftovers

Everyone is feeling MUCH better. Quite the sickness that took down Luke and me last week...
One of my resolutions for this year is to be present...and how that's translating into day-to-day is I've been spending half an hour with each kid doing whatever they want. Luke's been wanting to build with MagnaTiles with me, and Zo is doing lessons, so we rotate from activity to activity with her dictating what we do, eg, draw a picture a certain way, tell a story, use potty talk, build a tower, etc. Time really does slow down with these focused activities and the kids absolutely love having my undivided attention and getting to choose what we do...
Nice warm hike with the dog yesterday...
Sleep tuck-in for both kids last night...
Snuggled up with my husband on the couch watching Season 3 of The Leftovers...

10/50 + kids taking good care of their sick mama

Fun afternoon on the mountain with my girl yesterday! Powder day and Zo loved it. And she had me doing the little bumps etc. on the sides of the runs and I did a little jump and she said, "Mommy! That was epic!!" Just to be clear, my snowboarding is not epic...but love that my 5-year-old thinks it is. :)
I ended up sick last night, and the kids were so sweet taking care of me and also understanding that I couldn't do their normal bedtime routine. My husband was awesome too...
Slept 10 hours straight last night and feeling better today...but working from bed to try to really kick this thing...
Playing "War" with Zo yesterday before skiing...
Luke's Spanish teacher telling me a drop-off that she keeps getting little notes from him telling her how much he likes Spanish...he is seriously the sweetest...
