Reading and Jui Jitsu, ideas for art of various kinds + house/yard update
Zo is doing so great practicing her reading! I started asking her to read books outside her school books and she is doing her best to tackle “Superfaries,” which is a chapter book above her reading level but she’s really interested in the story so she makes a great effort…I help her with the hard words…and she actually does quite well with it…
Luke’s going to start doing extra juice jitsu classes here and there, next level up at the coach’s invitation. “He’s so good,” the coach told me yesterday. “He’s a natural.”
I’ve got a ton of creative ideas floating around my brain right now…
Coconut trees got cleaned out yesterday yay! And painting is progressing, think they’ll be done tomorrow…
Newtie resting at my feet while I work…
Happy Thursday!

So excited that the exterior painting project is underway!
Luke and Zo last night saying they would teach me Jui Jitsu, starting with easy moves like the bunny hop :)

Candlelit dinner on the porch tonight (as we’ve been doing most nights…so lucky we get to do that in January…
I’ve been thinking a lot about business and life and not need to rush rush rush and accomplish accomplish accomplish. I got this in my email the other day and it’s been resonating with me:
“Oh, it's all so overwhelming, right? All the ways we can possibly improve, all the many ways we compare our own success to those around us.
But yesterday, I was talking to a friend who said, ‘You know, all this hustle is overrated. I just want to live with joy, to enjoy my family, to be slow and intentional with the life I build.’ I thought that was so beautiful. Why do we always feel the need to rush, rush, rush, do, do, do achieve, achieve, achieve, now, now, now?
…It’s OK to have goals, to try and improve things, but don’t be in a rush. Do things at a pace that works for you and only you.” —Sarah Dubbeldam
Happy Monday!

The dome is a hit, Spiderman + loud children
This dome in the backyard (an X-mas present) has been quite the hit…love how I can ask the kids to play outside and they don’t complain…
Saw “Into the Spider-verse” yesterday, thought it was great…
Kids have some friends over at the moment and the 4 kids are SO LOUD lol…but so glad they are having a playdate... :)

Lost tooth
This boy lost a tooth in Jui Jitsu class yesterday! (A loose one he’s been waiting to lose.) He was so happy:
His Sissy, on the other hand, cried because she wasn’t the one to lose a tooth. Then she drew a picture of how she felt, and what needed to happen to change it:

Newton, rainbows + "Yes Ma'am"
Love this old guy and so grateful he’s in good health
Yesterday reading with the kids we saw a circle of rainbow colors just over the mountains, which one the next half hour turned into a full rainbow over our house with sunset clouds behind…it was spectacular…
Luke has started saying “Yes Ma’am” to me when asked to do something…did he learn that at school? I love it. We’re working hard on some better behavior with both kids and it’s too soon to tell but I’m definitely seeing changes…
Coolish day…in the 70s lol…perfect for curry…
Leaving shortly for hair appointment and PTG meeting and Jui Jitsu…busy afternoon…
Happy Wednesday!
